We test deck assemblies, roof systems, sealants, membranes, windows and window installation assemblies.
J2 is accredited by various industry recognized organizations to provide testing of building materials and weatherization components. We test deck assemblies, roof systems, sealants, membranes, windows and window installation assemblies.
Window performance testing can be a vital part of a building envelope performance evaluation. Testing is performed to isolate the window installation from the window unit itself and to determine the overall performance of the assembly. If leaks are identified specific repairs can be implemented to eliminate water intrusion.
WATER PENETRATION TESTING
Water penetration testing is performed with the use of a calibrated water delivery system and in some cases an interior air chamber. This combination is designed to simulate wind driven rain. Tests are performed in general compliance with guidelines established by the AAMA, WDMA, and ASTM.
DESTRUCTIVE SEALANT TESTING
Following guidelines set forth within ASTM C1521 – 09E1, we conduct both destructive and non-destructive testing of building sealants.
J2’s lab provides a controlled environment for product performance testing, witness testing (observations), calibration certifications, and research and development. Our testing abilities are not confined to the lab. Testing building components on-site, as installed, can yield valuable data for repairs.
By utilizing a thermal camera we identify areas of potential water intrusion without removing building finishes. If thermal anomalies are identified we can employ a more intrusive approach to investigate the origin of leaks.
